STEM with Social Consciousness and world preparation:
The NET mentoring program (Ages 13-18) of The NET focuses on helping students build the resilient, informed and critical thinking mentality needed to be successful in every and any career field. In a group mentoring format (small groups of 3-4 student have a male and female mentoring pair) students engage in STEM activities, but will also discuss, analyze and map out the past, present and futures of themselves and their communities through a uniquely-crafted curriculum based in social consciousness. Each student will receive individual guidance and support in reaching their immediate and long term goals, thus making their dreams close and realizable. Some of the topics discussed in our curriculum will include:
Current Events
The Achievement Gap
Resourcefulness
Black/Brown History
Career Development
Economic Empowerment
Influence of Music and Media
Individual & Social Responsibility
Inner-City Violence
